How Can Kidney Disease Affect a Dogs Health?
Renal disease or more commonly known as kidney disease is a more common in dogs than many owners think. For the most part, kidney related problems are rarely given a second thought by pet owners. Sadly, this is the cause for thousands of animals suffering in pain and discomfort until they are put to sleep. However, with basic knowledge of pet health you should be able to recognize the signs of trouble early on, thus minimizing any pain caused by kidney issues and reducing the chances of this in your dog.
There are two forms of kidney disease, acute kidney disease and chronic. The difference between the two are the root cause of the kidney disease. For example, in cases where the kidney disease was caused by toxicity, it is generally considered acute. If it is caused by toxicity you can often see the symptoms come on without warning and progress fairly quickly. With chronic, it is more likely that the signs of a problem are not as noticeable. However, with progression you might notice the dog acting unusual.
